HEART Project

My first project centers around collaborative work in the Heart, Environment and Relational Ties (HEART) Lab in the Institute of Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IHHCPAR) at Rutgers University. As a group, we study how men react to performance evaluations. To do this, we employ psychophysiological methods that measure men's cardiovascular and hormonal responses. My empirical focus on this project has now turned to conducting discourse analysis on the speeches that men give in the context of the experiment and ultimately compare those attempts at meaning-making with the physiological processes "under the skin." As of November 2015, data collection has been completed. We are currently in the process of analyzing and writing studies for publication.
